A hiker came from the north in search of the most beautiful place in Italy.
Where would he find it?
The journey took him south, past the peaks of the Dolomites, the lakeside promenades of Lake Garda and the vineyards of Tuscany.
Every place did its best, but much of it seemed to be just a theater stage, decoration, the roles played.
Anno 2016 ... the Intercity Bologna-Taranto rushes through the magnificent landscapes of the Marche region, with the vast sea on the left and rolling hills with rugged mountain shapes in the background on the right.
The journey slows down and, with squeaking wheels, the train stops at a station.
